Lorenzo Abatescianni is a Ph.D. Student at the Computational Intelligence Laboratory (CILab), University of Bari Aldo Moro. His research focuses on knowledge-driven and neuro-symbolic Artificial Intelligence for safety-critical systems, with particular emphasis on railway applications.
His work investigates the integration of formal ontologies and Railway Knowledge Graphs with deep-learning architectures, including Graph Neural Networks and temporal graph models, to incorporate structural and domain knowledge into data-driven representations.
A major objective is to develop interpretable-by-design AI models for railway systems, with applications to signaling anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and intelligent decision support, combining predictive capabilities with domain constraints and regulatory knowledge.
