Gennaro Vessio is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Bari Aldo Moro. His research focuses on Deep Learning and Computer Vision, with growing emphasis on multimodal, efficient and trustworthy Artificial Intelligence.
His work investigates visual and multimodal representations, generative and knowledge-aware models, explainability, and resource-efficient learning. A recurring objective is to develop AI methods that can move beyond controlled benchmarks and operate under the constraints of real-world systems.
Application domains include cultural heritage and digital humanities, healthcare and medical imaging, drone-based visual intelligence and emergency response, as well as other scenarios involving heterogeneous visual and multimodal data.
